A-Hmong the Stars

My entry for Clip Studio Paint's international illustration contest to celebrate the release of their program for the Samsung Galaxy devices. The theme is "Cutest Character in the Galaxy".

I wanted to blend in my Hmong culture and identity into this theme to make it more special to me, those in the Hmong community, and to those who would like to learn about it.

The girl on the picture is inspired by a friend of mine who is a gorgeous and an aspiring model. The zodiac-style chart presents the symbols and motifs featured in many traditional Hmong embroidery and clothing and it's labeled in both English and in Hmong.
